This is Stacked Stone Sphere the Sixth, AKA the Walnutport Sphere.
“Dry” Stone Sphere, in the rain
I created this sphere in Lehigh County PA, near Blue Mountain Ski Resort, and it is visible from the road. Yes, it does have a discreet amount of well-concealed mortar. The first few spheres that I built were truly dry stone, with zero mortar, no glue, no adhesive, no hidden pegs–simple stone, arranged in a manner both structural and aesthetic. Most of my spheres for the past 6 years or so have all been built in the same manner, solid stone all the way through–but to protect from vandalism or mishap, a bit of mortar is used.
Red slate, black slate and purple slate, set among the bluestone. Every vantage point shows a different face.

We have dozens of birdbaths available for sale. Different sizes, different shapes, different types of stone….some with pebble inclusions, some with moss and/or lichen. Some, with the top stone and bottom stone both being of the same stone type–others with the tops and bottoms mismatched, combining different stone types for interesting and pleasing composition.
