Above, Dry Stone Sphere The Thirdlymost, 2015. This might be my earliest example, of stone dots like this.

Outdoor shower mosaic, stone circle with dots, 2022.
This recent outdoor shower mosaic is at the same property as the Solar Eye fire pit mosaic that I posted last week.

It was raining when I finished this project (or finished phase I anyway) and got these photos. When we return to execute phase 2 of this stone art and hardscape installation, we’ll reconfigure the flagstone immediately surrounding the shower mosaic, and will install a bench, as well.
Stone dots amid the walkway
Sometimes, I plan ahead and know exactly where I want the dots to be–but other times, it’s more like Bob Ross and happy trees. Remember happy trees? Bob Ross would make a mistake an accidental little brush stroke and he’d turn that accidental brush stroke into a little bird and say all those mistakes you’ve made in your life, they’re birds now. Maybe sometimes I chip a stone by accident but you don’t hear me curse or get mad at the stone for it. They’re dots now.

I saw these pictures of Pompeii, and it showed these old roads that had small white pebbles set among the larger darker stones. So-called “tiger eyes” were apparently installed to help keep the path visible at night, like reflectors. Here, the dots serve a more decorative function.

Her name be Squiggly Noodle. Seven feet three inches tall, she is an icon of gnosis, a goddess of perspicacity.

I may have mentioned polka earlier…a bit of levity is nice every now and again–I do like to see smiles. But aside from light-heartedness, there may be something deeper going on, something sort of cosmic. Who can say for certain? It still makes me smile though.

Toon in next week, we have a very special episode coming up for you, featuring a multiplicity of new stone benches…in new configurations! Additionally there might be a table or two involved, we’ll see. What’s more, there’s said to be some talk about some rumors of some mysterious new alien insect type or mollusk entities and/or sculptural garden decor in creepy crawly style. What?
Thank You,
PS, here’s a short video, showcasing the fire circle and outdoor shower mosaics shown above:
